Every year, Pantone, the global authority on color, forecasts the next big color that’s going to be an influence in the design world. You can expect this color to show up in home and event decor, fashion, beauty, advertising, etc. over the next year or two.
Well, get ready for Pantone’s pick for 2018’s color of the year: Ultra Violet!
Woo hoo!!!
Here's what Pantone says about their choice:
Like most of Pantone’s picks over the last several years, (here are several) . . .
. . . Ultra Violet is very strong, clear, and bright. Nothing subtle here!
Here are a few rooms from Elle Décor that feature this year's color. This one combines just about every variation on purple, from the ceiling to the floor.
This bedroom looks like a boutique hotel room and uses purple exclusively as an accent color rather than saturating the room with it.
The purple combined with orange and pink in this teenager's room is whimsical and light-hearted and sophisticated all at the same time.
I love the bright purple chairs against the subdued wall color in this room from Architectural Digest.
Like most of these rooms, with an intense color like Ultra Violet, I think many people will tend to use it as an accent with pieces like these throw pillows, lamps, and art prints.
It's easier and more affordable to change out a few accessories than to completely makeover an entire room. (I found all these items at Lamps Plus just by doing a search on "purple.")
And Ultra Violet isn't just for the living room. Espresso anyone?
If Ultra Violet isn't your first choice for decorating, you can still have some fun with purple pumps from Nine West or Pantone Collection nail polish from Butter London.
