You never know what’s going to happen when your back is turned.
I hadn’t been out doing any serious decor shopping for awhile, so when I started power shopping for accessories for the Street of Dreams house, I discovered that PINEAPPLES have taken over the design world!
Pineapples were EVERYWHERE. No kidding, every single store we went into (and there were A LOT of them) had pineapple this, that, and the other. Pineapple beverage dispensers. Pineapple picture frames. Pineapple cookie jars. Pineapple tableware. Pineapple clothing. It got to be a joke after a while. “A pineapple for every room in the house!”
Pineapples are definitely a thing.
I don’t know if I’d exactly call pineapple decor a trend. It might be more of a fad. But for the moment, some of it’s quite elegant, and some of it's fun, seasonal, and maybe a tad kitschy.
If you haven’t spotted any pineapples yourself, I’ve got some show and tell for ya. These items from Pier 1 Imports would make great patio and party gear. Plates, garden stools, potpourri, and pineapple basil candles. (Side note: if you ever have an opportunity to drink a pineapple basil smoothie, they are to die for!)
These gold and black versions say "glam" and "take me home!
Clockwise: gold pineapple lamp from Lamps Plus; Pineapple wall art from iCanvas;
pineapple cocktail shaker from Williams-Sonoma; black and gold glitter pineapple fabric from Spoonflower; art print from Etsy with advice on how to be like a pineapple: "stand tall, wear a crown and be sweet on the inside." Hmm.
I don’t know quite what to say about this tinsel pineapple hanging up next to my neighbor’s front door.
For the Street of Dreams house, I’m only including a couple pineapples so it doesn’t turn into a whole theme or a “Where’s Waldo” situation in every room. I picked up this modern little wood and gold number in Target. Really nice!
And the white cookie jar came from HomeGoods, I think. (All the shopping is running together a little in my mind now.)
So what do you think about the pineapple trend: fun decor or best left in a fruit salad? :-D
