Hi, I'm Julie, Chief Executive Empress

of my little apple green design studio.

Welcome to my blog!

When I'm not out visiting a client or searching for just the right  product for a project, I can probably be found in my happy little studio (painted the perfect shade of green), busy drawing up new ideas for a cool kitchen or a "spa-licious" bathroom. I like to share the fun stuff I find along the way!

RANDOM NOTES FROM MY LITTLE

Before and after: my little bathroom makeover is (mostly) done!

February 11, 2017

After 8+ silly years of procrastinating, the mini makeover of my little bathroom only took about ONE DAY (or 16 "woman" hours) to accomplish. There are still a couple things that have to wait until next week, but I can’t wait that long to show you how it's looking so far!

If you didn’t read my post last week, you may not have seen the photos of the grumpy-making space that greeted me every morning.  A jumbo cup of coffee didn’t do much to make it better, other than amping me up so I could get out of there faster.

Here was the plan for the new and improved bathroom:

For the sake of comparison, I’ll show you a "Dramatic Before Photo" but I will warn you: if you have a low tolerance for Ugly, you might want to avert your eyes and keep scrolling while everyone else crowds around to look at this train wreck:

I know. Pretty bad. But it’s about to get better.

Enter my friend and fellow décor enthusiast, Vicki, who VOLUNTEERED to come and help me paint (the test of true friendship in my book).

After a long day of spackling and sanding, two coats of paint, a trip to the hardware store for supplies (and there’s always at least one), caffeine and chocolate breaks, installing new cabinet knobs, more caffeine, and then cleaning up the mess, we finally got to the fun part - - hanging stuff on the walls and putting the room together with all the accessories I had been collecting.

I was a little giddy at this point because not only was it getting done, but it was starting to look like a grown up lived here.

It’s hard to take good photos in such a small room and without a professional camera, but, (drumroll, please), here are a couple “Afters.”

Bright, cheery, and colorful. All things that I aspire to!

This is now a room that makes me smile when I walk in, and brushing my teeth is so much more glamorous in front of a Venetian mirror.  :-D

Next week Bob the Handyman comes to put in a new sink and faucet, and I'm going to experiment with something maybe a bit wacky on the countertop. Plus I've got a great tip to make hanging stuff on the walls much easier.

Be sure and check your email next Saturday!

Maybe green isn't your favorite color, but what do you think of my new zippy bathroom? Stop by if you're in the area and I'll give you the 25 cent tour!
