It’s not quite the end of the year yet, but two major paint companies have already announced their 2017 Color of the Year.
With gray being all the rage for a couple of years now, I was a wee bit surprised to see that Sherwin-Williams is predicting a different neutral that will define the next year.
So, drumroll, please, the Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year is:
Here’s what they have to say about Poised Taupe:
This timeless neutral is modern, classic and a beautiful balance of warm and cool. The 2016 [design] industry shows revealed a surprising transition from grey to taupe. Both contract and consumer color and products have been focused on gray as THE key neutral — although grey is still important, we have seen a significant shift in materials and finish color to warmer expressions of neutral.
Translation: people are starting to move away from cool grays towards the warmer taupe.
While I love taupe, I’m waiting to see Poised Taupe in person. Online colors aren’t always accurate, and on my screen this one appears to have a hint of pink in it. Yikes!
Just for fun, here’s one more color prediction. Benjamin Moore's pick for 2017: SHADOW!"
“It ebbs and flows with its surroundings, and light brings it to life. Rich, royal amethyst can fade into the soft lilac-grey of distant mountains or morph into lustrous coal. Indulge your mysterious side. Let Shadow set the mood.”
Very poetic. :-) And actually, I think Poised Taupe and Shadow might play well together!
Now I’m waiting for the Mac Daddy of color gurus, the Pantone Marketing Group, to come out with THEIR color for 2017. I'm sure you’re waiting on the edge of your seat too!
So, are either of these YOUR color of the year? Little ol' novice me doesn't have blog comments set up yet, so email me your pick if you've got a favorite for your walls. I'd love to hear from you!
