Hi, I'm Julie, Chief Executive Empress

of my little apple green design studio.

Welcome to my blog!

When I'm not out visiting a client or searching for just the right  product for a project, I can probably be found in my happy little studio (painted the perfect shade of green), busy drawing up new ideas for a cool kitchen or a "spa-licious" bathroom. I like to share the fun stuff I find along the way!

RANDOM NOTES FROM MY LITTLE

Trend alert: geometric lighting!

The trend in geometric lighting seems to have taken hold in a big way, and I’m seeing fantastic and unusual light fixtures all over the internet - - from chandeliers and pendants to lamps and candleholders. And they come in a range of styles from modern minimalist to dripping with crystals, and in about every shape you can imagine. Plus you can use them in any room in your house.

Light up your room with one of these fun, trendy, new lamps or ceiling fixtures:

Here are two "cages" from Destination Lighting that are very similar in style and color but entirely different shapes, depending on what works best for your room: angular or round.

And here are a couple of unusual shapes, both from World Market. The one on the right is called a quatrefoil, but I have NO idea what the one on the left is called. (And I hate to tell you this, but brass is on its way back In.)

I like the way they've used this drum shade to coordinate with the circular artwork and the round coffee table. By the way, don't be afraid to hang a chandelier in the living room. It can add a lot of interest, not to mention some great mood lighting.

And how about pendant lighting in the bathroom? When they're reflected in the mirror, you get double the fun. :-D (P.S. How about that groovy trough sink?!)

This guy combines the cage look with the wildly popular sputnik shape and would look great in a large entry way or over a dining room table.

And as promised, here's a schmancy, sparkly, crystal version combined with rustic, rusty bronze. Can you say "ooo, ahhh" ?!

A side benefit of these open geometric fixtures is the cool shadows they cast on the wall. Just the thing to spiff up that boring, vanilla powder bath.

If you're not in the mood to change up a ceiling fixture, how about swapping out a lamp in your bedroom or office?

I wouldn't advise this one if you're an arachnophobic!

I'd rather end on a nice, pretty note with these candleholders from Anthropologie that would look lovely on your mantel, dining room table, or just about anywhere really.
