Hi, I'm Julie, Chief Executive Empress

of my little apple green design studio.

Welcome to my blog!

When I'm not out visiting a client or searching for just the right  product for a project, I can probably be found in my happy little studio (painted the perfect shade of green), busy drawing up new ideas for a cool kitchen or a "spa-licious" bathroom. I like to share the fun stuff I find along the way!

Christmas decorating tips for a beautiful powder bath

December 3, 2016

Even though it’s only December 3rd, the flurry of Christmas parties is beginning,  (I'm going to a cookie exchange this afternoon!) and I’ll bet you’re going to have friends and family over to celebrate at some point or other before it’s all over.

You work hard to decorate the main part of the house to inspire holiday cheer, but have you thought about paying some Christmas attention to your powder room or hall bath? After all, guests are going to spend a little time in that room too, if you know what I mean.

Just a few decorative touches will make them feel like you’ve thought of everything to make them feel welcome.

Here are a few powder bath decorating ideas:

First off, I know I’m not your mother, but naturally that room should be spotlessly clean. ‘Nuff said.

Moving on to the fun stuff.

Christmas decorating doesn’t have to be limited to red and green. I’ve done Christmas décor in every color there is! Work with the colors you already have in your room so it looks pulled together.

Change out the everyday artwork for something seasonal.  An inexpensive option?  Frame some Christmas cards from years past, vintage postcards, or cute kids drawings of Santa, the tree, or whatever fits the theme you might be using.

Drape some garland over the mirror (Command Hooks work great for stuff like this) and hang snowflakes or ornaments from ribbons. Or add some greens on the countertop and include your favorite decorative items: pine cones, strings of glass beads, candles, a mini tree, etc.

A really large wreath made out of ornaments would be fun hanging on the mirror too, especially if you get to look at your face in the center of it.  :-)

Fill a bowl, a basket or glass container with colorful ornaments. Again, any color can work as long as it looks shiny and festive.

Take a minute to look at your hand towels and rugs. If they've seen better days, stock up on some new ones: holiday themed or in your favorite colors. Here are some fun kitchen towels that look like candy canes and would look equally great in the bathroom.

Put fresh guest soaps in a decorative dish or buy some holiday-scented hand gel.

Place one of those holiday towels next to the sink for guests to dry their hands after using the lovely-smelling soap.

And my favorite tip:

Adding anything glittery and sparkly in whatever color you decorate with will instantly say “Christmas.”

How about you? Do you decorate your bathrooms for Christmas or other unusual spots around the house? Leave me a comment. I'd love to hear from you.  :-D
